Appendectomy

An appendectomy/appendisectomy/ appendicectomy are surgery to remove the appendix. This procedure is normally performed when the patient is suffering from acute appendicitis. An appendectomy is surgery to remove the appendix.

Ileostomy

An Ileostomy is an opening constructed in your belly by bringing the end of small intestine out onto the surface of the skin. It is used to deliver waste out of the body .It is often done when problems with your large intestine cannot be treated with medicine.

Diseases that may be treated with an ileostomy include:

  • Bowel obstructions
  • Cancer of the Colon /Rectum
  • Congenital Bowel Defects
  • Crohn's Disease
  • Injury to the Intestinal Tract
  • Uncontrolled bleeding from the Large Intestine

Most common problems that lead to the need for this surgery is:

  • Birth defects that involve your intestines
  • Colon or rectal cancer
  • Familial polyposis
  • Inflammatory bowel disease
  • Severe damage in your intestines

Risks of this Surgery:

  • Bleeding inside your belly
  • Blood clots in the legs that may travel to the lungs
  • Damage to nearby organs
  • Breathing problems
  • Poor healing of the wound in your perineum
  • Infection, including in the lungs, urinary tract, or belly
  • Heart attack

  • Scar tissue in your belly that causes a blockage in your intestines
  • Wound infection
